Some beautiful Birch trees that we came across as we climbed the upper parts of the mountain.

I thought this snow came out very odd...

Walnut Creek Canyon, about 20 minutes outside of Flagstaff
The Indians lived under the natural shelves that ring around the canyons. Even though they were abandoned centuries ago, soot still marks the ceilings and walls
Lisa in one of the numerous ruins at Walnut Creek Canyon.
There were two major ecosystems at Walnut Creek: A desert one in the sunny side, and a pine forest in the shadows.

The lichens are starting to grow on the lava in Sunset Crater

Lisa lovin' the dead tree

A huge Indian ruin at Wupatki National Monument
It almost looks like the rock landed in the building one day.
These four pictures were taken at an earth blowhole that leads to a cave system. The difference in air pressure causes it to 'breathe.'
The air coming out of the hole held an incredibly strong and lovely 'earthiness'
The cave system must be pretty sizable considering how much air was coming out of it the entire time we were there!

More of the huge Wupatki ruin
